Home made Baked Ipoh Salted Chicken

Mamarazzi found a packet of the Iingredients for Ipoh Baked Salted Chicken in the fridge. She had always steamed the chicken using this but never baked before.  Thought it is good to try to bake pulaK.

She put aadditional goji and dong guai slices for the extra herbal taste.

Add the powder in.She let it marinate in the fridge for three hour before putting it in the oven to bake for an hour

Jeng jeng..the end result

Hhmmm...toooooooooo salty....mamarazzi put way too much of the powder. Errr....no worries...she found a way to save the dish. Take the meat and wrap in popiah style. Not bad

  1. I think she must be an excellent cook, you are so lucky! It can be hard to know how to save a dish from a mistake.

  2. So J prefers steamed or baked? For me, both styles also healthy, no oil is used, right? The chicken tender and juicy mou when you took it out from the oven?

  3. I can see it's a bit dry for the baked version.. If you steam, then more gravy.. That's why when I bake or roast chicken, I add in more marinade so that it won't be too dry afterwards.. I also like to add in a blob of butter for my roast chicken..

  9. do they really cover the chicken (wrapped in foil paper) and bury them deep into heated salt?? this is what i would have thought how it's cooked.. so to be exact, neither baked nor steamed right?? though in Chinese it's called "baked" but got a better term in English??
