Home Made Chai (Vegetable) Kueh

There was a time when Papa gone crazy wanna eat Chai Kueh(Steamed Vegetable Dumplings).

Each time buy fro Pasar Malam 6 pieces is not enough to eat. Hence he asked Mamarazzi to make. She googled and found delightful Steamed Vegetable Dumpling in Sonia's blog but got stumped it required Tang Mien Flour. Where to buy? Well, after many moon had past, she happens to notice it at Jaya Grocer. Bought a packet.

Went and got a Sengkuang(Jicama?) and carrot.

 Shred them.

Took two Banana leaves from "Ah Gong's "(public property) tree outside the compound.

Papa likes this Black Fungus. Mamarazzi chopped it.

 a lot of dried shrimps.

 stir fried them .

While waiting for the ingredients to cool down, she made the skin. Fuiyo...Sonia is right. It's super sticky.

I saw Mamarazzi making, I also wanna try la.

As I don't have round cutter, I used a small round bowl to "cut" the skin.

Mamarazzi "helped" me to put the ingredient into the skin and "seal" them.

Looks a bit ugly but first time making mah...have to give some allowance, right?

 Ready for steaming.

Wow...after steaming, they seems to "grow" leh. Really translucent skin wor.

Papa tasted and said it's not salty enough and he would preferred thicker skin. Hmm.... Mamarazzi thought the thinner the skin the better? Well, never mind la. Can try again next time.

Anyone wanna try this recipe? well...don't follow Mamarazzi's recipe ah. Later lausai I tak guarantee. If you want proper recipe, please heads over to sonia blog. Her recipe is very accurate and prefect. You see  the photo , you'll drool too.
