Mamarazzi's Popiah(Spring Rolls)

The other day went to Bazaar again. Papa saw some SYT's making and selling Popiah.

They were putting a table spoon of shredded "sengkuang" (a.k.a Jicama /Yam Bean) onto the Popiah skin.

Papa asked what else they were going to put into the Popiah. The SYT replied, that's all. Guess how much they are selling it for? RM3 for 5 small pieces! Mamarazzi said she could do better.

The very next morning, Papa woke Mamarazzi up and off to the market we went.

Mamarazzi bought a medium size Sengkuang, some carrots, some lettuce(Sang Choy), cucumber and taugeh(Bean sprout).

Couldn't find popiah skin in the pasar. Subang Jaya market is a bit too far to go. Hence we went to Tesco nearby. Bought Popiah skin, tauchu sauce and sweet taucu sauce .

Got to say this brand of popiah skin is quite good. Very thin and not easy to break.

Came home shredded the Sengkuang and carrot. Then she stir fry them with some dried shrimp. Add some oyster sauce and dark Soya sauce.

Scramble a few eggs.

Supposed to fry onions but she took the easy way out. SHe bought a packet of the pre-fried onion instead.

Ya, saw in some e-mails there were claims that some company fry the onions with plastic to make it more crunchy. Not sure about these claims. Well, hentam aje la. Close eyes and eat.

She fried four pieces of tauhu. Then minced the fried Tauhu, shredded the cucumber and blanched the taugeh.

Easy job...all ingredients are ready.

Just need to dump everything onto the Popiah skin. Not really dump lah...more or less like that lor.

Then roll and wrap it.

First time making Popiah. Not bad ya the result?

Yummm...it's that easy...
